Support What You Believe In

Gulf Coast Online

Dec 01, 2015

From The Notebooks of Ralph Humphrey by David Reed, found in Gulf Coast 28.1Giving to Gulf Coast always makes a difference. Our staff of nearly 35 editors, readers, and interns could not publish such a handsome compendium of art and writing—in print and online—without you. In 2015, submissions, subscriptions, and donations, alongside support from granting organizations, allowed us to offer over $40,000 in author and artist payments, print two gorgeous issues, stock our website with online exclusives, and hold a Houston-based Gulf Coast Reading Series. On Tuesday, December 1st, we'll watch the impact of these gifts increase.

In less than a week, #GivingTuesday and power2give.org will offer Gulf Coast supporters another way to give back to a literary journal and organization they believe in.

"Poetry for the People," through power2give.org and the Houston Arts Alliance, will match donations of up to $250. Those who give will receive t-shirts, vintage issues of the journal, or other goodies. Better yet, "Poetry for the People" funds will be used for the printing and publication of dozens of poems this spring.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.

Whatever amount you're able to give, know that your gifts to Gulf Coast make a difference in the lives of thousands of artists and readers each year.

Wishing you and yours a happy holiday!
